Tomer Allen-Price Memorial Skate Park Fund

A focal point for the kids

On June 13th 2006 Tomer Allen- Price died in a car crash on the Hawkshead road Potters Bar. Family and friends, so many people loved Tomer who used to live in Welham Green and this year moved to Potters Bar both locally and through his various hobbies and sports. The huge number of people who turned out to say goodbye to him at the funeral only reinforced this. People travelled from as far a field as Portsmouth, Wales and even several from Italy and America. There were also many local youngsters who knew Tomer from St Mary’s, Sunnybank and Chancellors schools as well as many who he had befriended at the Furzefield Centre Skate Park. With this in mind Tomer’s parents Jane & Jeremy and his brother Frankie want to build a memoriam to him in Potters Bar and give something to the youngsters of the Town too.

The Furzefield Centre skate park a recent addition to the town has become a focal point for many of the kids in Potters Bar. Skater’s, Skateboarders, BMX riders and their friends all share a common enjoyment and camaraderie that the park brings. A place that Tomer would spend many hours at both after school and over weekends when he wasn’t away racing his motocross bike. Tomer always said that the park needed to be bigger and it would be an amazing if a half pipe could be added.

With the approval and support of Hertsmere Council The family is now trying to raise the £45k needed to add a whole new section to the park.

Business owner’s / managers – It is always seen as a problem when kids are hanging around the shops and factories, so many people complain as they feel threatened by the large groups, yet what can be done ! Ban them, harass them. The skate park if nurtured and grown will continue to be a place to inspire, learn, aspire, achieve as well as a meeting place for kids of Potters Bar. Anything that gives them a focal point inevitably helps to keep them off the streets and gives many a chance to socialize with like-minded children who only want to enjoy the freedom of the being young without causing problems within the community
